To expand the Adolescent Reading Intervention Specialist role that had provided innovative literacy strategies for grades 7-12 students with disabilities in one region to now serve all K-12 students with disabilities across their entire network of schools, creating a coordinated system of literacy support. This shift will enable broader support across the network and extend the Specialist’s instructional leadership beyond adolescent reading intervention to include self-contained English Language Arts curriculum and assessment development and quality control. The ARI Specialist will focus on designing, piloting, and ultimately embedding innovative literacy strategies that support students with disabilities to give them equitable access to their literacy curriculum. The ARI Specialist will systematize the curriculum and instruction of self-contained core content English classes, which would include robust year-long professional development in special education literacy.
