To support staffing for the implementation of Jobs for America’s Graduates New York (“JAG NY”), an employment-readiness program which will annually serve 100 system-involved and other at-risk young people aged 17 to 24 who have dropped out of high school. CASES secured one of ten Learn and Earn to Achieve Potential (“LEAP”) grants, made nationwide by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and requiring a local match, and is using the support to test the JAG model. JAG supports improved career outcomes for participants through a highly-structured, module-based curriculum teaching job-readiness skills as part of a six-month active program phase that includes High School Equivalency preparation and testing, career counseling, service projects, and internship placements, followed by 12 months of aftercare focused on job and/or post-secondary placement and retention. Throughout this voluntary program, CASES provides these youths with access to their extensive “in-house” wraparound services.
